Description
Gold breaks into “Mirage 04.” The inner panel carries two green yuccas on a pale ground, but the outer field erupts in radiating ochre and gold strokes on the right, scratched white and violet lines below, and a pale yellow disc low on the left like a small moon. It is the most chromatically restless of the small paintings. Beda paints the outer field first, then attacks it — scraping, scoring, laying the gold over dark and pulling dark back through the gold.
