Making art each week is a refreshing routine – it’s like a mini-retreat after work or school where you can unwind, have fun, and express yourself. Many students say they look forward to these classes as the highlight of their week. The consistent schedule (every Thursday at 6:30 PM) makes it easy to build art into your life regularly, helping you steadily improve your skills over time. Whether you’re coming from Dallas, Plano, Garland, or anywhere in the DFW metroplex, you’ll find these art classes in Richardson, Texas a convenient and rewarding weekly escape into creativity.

Small Class Size = Personalized Learning

One of the big advantages of our Richardson art classes is the intimate class size. Each session is limited to just 6–12 participants, which means you won’t be lost in a crowd. In this small-group setting, you’ll get plenty of personalized instruction and feedback. Bartosz makes sure to give each student attention, whether it’s helping you mix that perfect color or suggesting a composition tweak to improve your painting.

Beginners feel at ease because there’s always guidance available, and experienced artists appreciate having an expert eye to help refine their technique. The supportive group atmosphere also means you can easily interact with classmates – share tips, encourage each other, and enjoy the camaraderie. It’s not just a class, it’s a community art workshop where everyone is learning together. (With only a handful of spots each week, it’s a good idea to reserve your seat early – these classes often fill up!)

All Materials Provided (Just Show Up and Paint)

Don’t have your own art supplies? No problem! All necessary painting materials are provided as part of the class. We’ll set you up with a range of acrylic paints, an assortment of brushes, and high-quality watercolor/sketch paper to paint on. The studio is stocked so you can simply show up ready to create, without the stress of buying or packing supplies. This makes it especially easy for beginners who might not have materials yet.

Of course, if you’re an experienced painter with favorite brushes or paints, you’re welcome to bring your own supplies – but it’s totally optional. Many students love discovering new paints and tools from the class stock. Canvas, easels, water jars, palettes – it’s all here for you. By removing the barrier of supply costs or preparation, we ensure that anyone can dive into these art workshops and start painting right away. (If you’re excited to continue painting at home, art kits are available for purchase too – just ask!)

Explore Something New Every Week (Still Life & More)

Forget repetitive lessons – each class features a new painting subject or theme, so you’ll always be tackling a fresh creative challenge. We often start with still life compositions, as they are a fantastic way to learn fundamentals. In fact, a dedicated still life painting class is one of the keys to improving your art skills – it trains your eye for composition, lighting, and color mixing in a controlled setting (there’s a reason artists have painted still lifes for centuries!). Our very first session typically centers on a vibrant floral still life, using handcrafted paper flowers arranged in a beautiful composition. Painting from these paper flower arrangements is a fun twist that can really spark your creativity – the colors are bold and the “flowers” never wilt or change, so you can take your time observing and experimenting. (For more on this approach, check out our blog on still life painting ideas and how painting paper flowers can ignite your creativity.)

As the weeks go by, the subjects rotate to keep things exciting. One week you might paint a bouquet of flowers, the next week a set of interesting everyday objects, and another week perhaps explore a simple landscape or a figure study. Bartosz selects subjects that teach you new techniques and encourage you to see like an artist. This variety ensures that you build well-rounded skills – from understanding shapes and forms in still life, to capturing perspective in a scene, or mixing colors for different moods. Nothing gets stale or boring. You’ll find yourself looking forward to discovering “What are we painting this week?” and expanding your artistic comfort zone each time. By broadening your subject matter, you’ll become a more versatile artist while having a lot of fun along the way.

Step-by-Step Guidance in a Relaxed Atmosphere

Each class is structured to give you guidance without stifling your individual creativity. We kick off every session with a 15–20 minute demonstration and mini-lesson. Bartosz will introduce the project or subject of the day and share tips on things like composition, use of space, color mixing, and observation techniques. This live demo is a great way to see an artist’s process up close – you’ll watch how he blocks in shapes, how he layers colors, and how to approach common challenges of the subject. He breaks down the painting step by step so you can follow along with confidence, even if you’re brand new to painting. Questions during the demo are welcome, too!

After the demo, it’s your turn to paint. Don’t worry – this isn’t a rigid, follow-the-leader class. You get to interpret the subject in your own style. Bartosz circulates around the room, offering one-on-one help and feedback as you work on your painting. If you feel stuck or unsure, he’ll be right there to provide guidance or a helpful suggestion. If you’re in the flow, he’ll cheer you on and maybe challenge you with a new idea to try. The atmosphere is friendly and low-pressure – kind of like an open studio with a mentor by your side. There’s no judgment or competition; everyone is there to learn and enjoy painting. You can ask questions anytime, experiment with different techniques, and progress at your own pace. By the end of the class, you’ll not only have created your own artwork, but also picked up new skills and techniques for your artistic toolbox.

Because the environment is so relaxed, students feel free to be creative and make mistakes (often the best way to learn!). It’s a setting where no one expects perfection – especially not on your first try at a new subject. This freedom to experiment is invaluable for learning. You might find that you paint more loosely and confidently here than you would on your own. It’s amazing how much you can improve when you’re enjoying yourself and not worrying about doing things “wrong.” Many attendees comment on how therapeutic and inspiring the classes are – they leave feeling recharged and eager to continue painting at home until the next session.

All Levels Welcome – Beginner to Advanced

These art classes are truly for everyone, which is what makes the group so diverse and interesting. Beginners are absolutely welcome – even if you’ve never picked up a paintbrush before. Bartosz has a knack for making first-timers feel comfortable. The beginner-friendly format (with step-by-step demos and all materials ready for you) ensures that you have guidance from the moment you start. You’ll learn the basics in an encouraging setting, building a strong foundation without feeling overwhelmed.

At the same time, experienced and returning artists will find plenty to sink their teeth into. Each project can be approached as simply or as ambitiously as you want. If you’re more advanced, you can use the class to refine your technique or explore new styles under the mentorship of a pro. In fact, many seasoned painters join to refresh their fundamentals and gain a new perspective. Revisiting still life subjects or color exercises in a mixed-level class can reveal things you might have missed before. As one of our blog posts asks, “Can experienced artists gain anything from a beginner art class?” – the answer is a resounding yes! Even if you’ve been painting for years, there’s always something new to learn or a skill to sharpen. Our mixed-level sessions foster a supportive atmosphere where everyone learns from each other. You might pick up a fun trick by watching a beginner experiment fearlessly, and they might learn from your expertise – it’s a two-way street of inspiration.

All ages are welcome as well – these are primarily adult and teen painting classes, but younger artists can join if a parent or guardian is present. (If you’re under 16, we just ask that you bring along an adult to share the experience with you.) This policy ensures a safe, family-friendly setting. We’ve had parents and kids attend together as a bonding activity, which we love to see! Whether you’re a retiree exploring a new hobby, a college student looking to unwind, or a professional artist seeking a community, you’ll feel right at home. The common thread is that everyone is here to grow creatively and have a good time.

Learn from an Internationally Recognized Artist

What makes these Richardson art classes extra special is the instructor himself: Bartosz Beda. Bartosz is not only a skilled teacher but also an internationally recognized painter with a wealth of experience in the art world. Originally from Poland and now based in the Dallas area, he has exhibited his dynamic abstract figurative paintings across Europe and the United States. His work has earned awards and recognition, and he continues to be an active, working artist. By joining his class, you get the unique opportunity to learn from a professional artist who knows what it takes to create compelling art and keep growing over time.

Bartosz’s teaching style is often described as engaging, down-to-earth, and inspiring. He brings the same passion to teaching that he brings to his own studio practice. Instead of a stiff classroom vibe, he creates a mentorship atmosphere – more like working alongside an artist in their studio. He is generous with his knowledge, whether he’s explaining color theory or demonstrating a brush technique. Because he actively paints and exhibits, he can share insights about process and creativity that you won’t find in a typical art textbook. Feel free to pick his brain about art techniques, going pro as an artist, or anything art-related – he’s happy to answer questions and encourage your interest.

Students often say that learning from a practicing artist like Bartosz deepens their appreciation for art and motivates them to practice more on their own. It’s not every day you get to take a class led by someone who’s been featured in galleries and art publications! Bartosz’s international perspective and experience make this class a rich learning experience, connecting Richardson locals to the broader art world.

Pricing – Pay per Class

We want to make it easy for you to join in and paint with us. Each class session is just $50, which includes all the materials and instruction for the evening. There are no membership fees or long-term contracts – you can attend just one class to try it out, or drop in whenever your schedule allows. Many students love this flexibility, as it lets them fit art classes into busy lives without a big commitment. If you can only make it once in a while, that’s totally okay!

How to sign up: We recommend reserving your spot in advance since space is limited. You can easily book online through our website’s class schedule – just select the date you want to attend and register. (If you prefer, you can also pay in person at the studio, but be sure to call/email ahead to ensure there’s a spot available.) We welcome last-minute attendees if there’s room, but classes do cap at 6-12 people, so it’s best not to rely on walk-in availability. FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need any art experience to join this class?
A: Not at all! Beginners are very welcome. These classes are designed to be beginner-friendly, with step-by-step demos and plenty of guidance. If you’ve never painted before, you’ll fit right in and learn the basics in a supportive setting. And if you do have experience, you’ll still find the classes engaging and beneficial – the projects can be adapted to any skill level.

Q: What will we be painting in the class?
A: The subject changes each week to keep things fun and to teach you different skills. We often start with still life subjects (like floral arrangements, including sessions where we paint realistic-looking paper flowers). Still life is great for learning fundamentals of composition and shading. As the weeks go on, Bartosz introduces other themes – for example, you might paint a set of everyday objects, a simple landscape scene, or even experiment with abstract techniques. Each class is a new adventure, and Bartosz makes sure to vary the themes so you get a well-rounded painting experience over time.

Q: Are materials really included? Do I need to bring anything?
A: Yes – all necessary materials are provided! We supply acrylic paints, brushes, and paper at the studio for you to use. You literally can just show up and everything to paint will be ready. You might want to bring an old shirt or apron (we have some spares too) just to protect your clothes from any paint splatters. If you have your own favorite brushes, paints, or a sketchbook you’d like to use, you’re welcome to bring them, but it’s completely optional. Most students use our studio supplies, especially when starting out. We even have easels and table space for everyone, so you don’t need to lug anything to class. Just bring yourself and an open mind!

Q: I’m an experienced artist. Will I get anything out of a mixed-level class?
A: We believe you will! While the class is beginner-friendly, it’s open to all levels and Bartosz adjusts his teaching to each student’s needs. If you’re experienced, you can treat the class as a focused practice session or a chance to try new techniques/subjects with guidance. Bartosz will challenge you with deeper feedback and can give you advanced pointers on composition, color theory, or whatever you’re looking to improve. Many experienced artists find that working alongside beginners helps them refresh core skills and see things from a new perspective. It’s a relaxed, pressure-free environment to just enjoy painting and possibly break out of an artistic rut. Plus, you get to interact with a professional artist (Bartosz) and a community of fellow art lovers – which can spark new ideas for your personal work. In short, there’s always something to learn, no matter your level.

Q: What ages can attend these classes?
A: The Thursday classes are geared towards adults and teens, but all ages are welcome as long as anyone under 16 is accompanied by a parent or guardian. We’ve had teenagers join with a parent, and it becomes a fun family activity. We’ve also had young adults, retirees, and every age in between. The main thing is that participants should be able to focus for the 2.5-hour session and handle painting materials responsibly. If you have a child younger than high school age who is very keen on art, they can certainly participate with supervision – just reach out to us if you’re unsure, and we can discuss to make sure it’s a good fit. There are no strict age limits beyond the under-16 policy; we just want to ensure a positive experience for all students.

Q: How do I sign up and pay for the class?
A: You can sign up right on our website. Simply choose the Thursday date you want to attend and register for that session (each date is booked separately). Payment can be made online when you register. If you prefer to pay in person, you can RSVP by contacting us and then pay at the studio (we accept cash or card on-site). Drop-ins on the day of class are allowed if space is available, but because we limit each class to 12 people, it’s best to reserve ahead of time to guarantee your spot. If you purchase the 4-session package for $180, we’ll provide you with a way to track your attendance – you can pick any four future dates that work for you (you don’t have to decide all at once). Feel free to email or call us if you have any issues with the sign-up process. We’re here to help and get you painting!

Q: Where exactly is the studio? Is there parking?
A: The class is held at 500 E Arapaho Rd, Richardson, TX 75081, inside Bartosz Beda’s art studio. It’s in an easily accessible part of Richardson, not far from US-75. When you arrive, you’ll find plenty of parking in front of and around the building. There’s a parking lot across from the nearby fitness center that our students can use freely, so you won’t have trouble finding a spot. The studio entrance is on the ground floor and will be clearly marked for the art class. If you’re coming from Dallas or elsewhere in DFW, just plug the address into GPS – you’ll typically find it’s a quick drive and you can avoid the heavier downtown traffic. Once inside, you’ll be welcomed into a creative space filled with art – an inspiring place to spend your evening painting!

Q: What if I can’t attend every week?
A: No worries at all – these classes are designed to be flexible. Each session is a self-contained workshop, so you won’t fall behind if you skip a week. You can attend as your schedule allows. Some students come every single Thursday because they love the routine, while others drop in once a month or whenever they have free time. It’s entirely up to you. Of course, the more you come, the more you’ll learn and progress, but there is no obligation or long-term contract. If you’ve bought the 4-session package, you can use those sessions over an extended period (they don’t expire immediately), so you could spread them out over a couple of months if you like. We understand life gets busy – just know that whenever you’re able to join us, we’ll be here ready with a canvas, paints, and a warm welcome!
