Description
“Mirage 06” is the darkest of the small paintings: a yucca rendered almost entirely in black-green dry brush against a teal ground. The fronds are scratched in with the brush nearly dry, so each stroke breaks and stutters, leaving the underpainting to spark through like static. There is no bright inner panel here. The whole canvas is the night the series began in — the beaked yuccas of West Texas seen under streetlamps, washed of their color. Original oil on canvas, 16×12 inches (41×31 cm), 2026. Signed, with certificate of authenticity. Questions: info [at] bartoszbeda [dot] com
