Description
Owing to the Absence 27 moves with a lighter hand, its ink sketching a presence that hovers just above the paper’s surface. The gestures are quick, almost provisional, as if the image were being tested rather than declared. That tentativeness is the work’s subject: how little it takes for a mark to suggest a life, and how quickly that life can slip back into abstraction. At 38×28 cm, it is an intimate work that rewards slow, repeated looking.
