Description
Owing to the Absence 3 presents a portrait caught between presence and disappearance. Rapid, searching brushstrokes of black ink define the brow, nose and mouth, while broad washes let the face bleed back into the untouched paper, as if memory itself were fading at the edges.
Created in 2022–23, this 77 × 56 cm work in ink on paper belongs to a series that meditates on what remains when a person is gone — the imprint of a gaze, the rhythm of a hand, the silence left behind.
