Description
A single yucca fills almost the entire inner frame of “Mirage 05,” its fronds fanning out in thick green impasto. The inner panel glows blue around the form; outside it, gray-black strokes radiate outward like shockwaves, broken by patches of deep green, violet, and small salmon-pink touches at the lower left. The painting within the painting is the calm eye. Everything around it is weather. Beda scratches the outer paint down to the canvas in places, then rebuilds it, so the surface holds both violence and care. Original oil on canvas, 11×14 inches (28×36 cm), 2026.
