Description
Owing to the Absence 12 splits its portrait in two: one side of the face is fully rendered in rich black ink, the other abandoned to blank paper and a few trailing strokes. The divide runs like a fault line through the image, between what can be held and what must be released.
Executed in ink on paper in 2022–23, 77 × 56 cm, the work distills the entire series into a single image — presence and absence sharing one face.
