Description
In Owing to the Absence 7, the sitter turns slightly away from the viewer, and the profile softens into sweeping washes of grey and black. Broad, confident brushwork anchors the composition while delicate dry-brush marks sketch hair and cheek, creating a likeness that feels remembered rather than observed.
This ink on paper work from 2022–23 measures 77 × 56 cm. Like others in the series, it treats the portrait as an act of recall — vivid in places, gone in others.
