Description
Owing to the Absence 8 centers on the expressive potential of hands and face, the two most human of forms. Turbulent, scratched strokes of black ink tangle across the sheet, coalescing into fingers, knuckles and the curve of a cheek before breaking apart again into pure gesture.
Ink on paper, 77 × 56 cm, created in 2022–23. The drawing holds the paradox at the heart of the series: marks meant to preserve a person inevitably record their slipping away.
