Description
Owing to the Absence 23 commands the room at a full 105×75 cm, its black ink figure striding across the paper with a raw, unguarded immediacy. The brushwork is fast and fearless — strokes that build a body out of momentum and then let it dissolve at the edges. There is no sentimentality here, only the honest record of a hand moving at the speed of feeling. The figure seems to be leaving the frame even as it is being made, true to the series’ meditation on departure and what is owed to those who are gone.
